Imagine Dragons - Continued Silence EP

So this EP I checked out because of promising reviews and I have to say I was very disappointed with it. The only song I really enjoyed in this album was the song Radioactive. Radioactive is the first song on this track list and it had me excited for the rest of the album. But the rest was rather dull. I was not crazy about his voice and this album is very drum heavy, which is not a bad thing but I don't feel like they executed it properly. This was definitely nothing special. I give this album a 2/10.

Fun. - Some Nights

Okay, so now to be honest... the only reason I heard of this band was Spotify. But this album seemed interesting so I checked it out. Fun has a very unique sound to them yet, at the same time, they reminded me of a band I really like called Run River North (formerly known as Monsters Calling Home.) The album is very catch in an odd way. Great instrumentals and something that's important to me, a unique vocalist. I especially like the song on this album called It Gets Better, it has a very unique sound to it, even from the rest of the album which is unique in itself. Now one thing I really didn't like about the album is the use of auto-tune, that was rather annoying in my opinion it really came in during the song Stars. That really seemed to be the biggest flaw in the album. But overall, this is a fairly strong album, I enjoyed it, I'd give it a 7/10. They were consistent, they were good, just not great. I still suggest checking out this album though, consistency is a great thing.

Explosions in the Sky - Take Care, Take Care, Take Care 8/10

Explosions in the Sky is a Post-Rock group, which is a fantastic genre if you have not already checked it out. The track list on this album is very short but all of the songs, excluding one, is not under seven minutes long. This album has times where it is very relaxing and times where it is very intense in a calm sort of way. There are parts of this album that get very eerie which contrasts with most of the album, but it really works well. This album is fantastic for relaxing when you need to. I highly suggest this to anyone.

Poor, Useless Me

Poor, Useless Me is a side project of the artist Sun Devoured Earth. He is an incredible shoegaze artist. His music puts you in a trance almost. Very calm and relaxing. He has beautiful vocals and very interesting instrumentals. If you're into Shoegaze, or have not listened to the genre before, I suggest checking them out. Especially if you like calm and relaxing music. I could only find 2 EP's for Poor, Useless Me and you can get them off his facebook page for free if you'd like to check it out.

Russian Cirlces - Geneva - 10/10

Russian Circles is an incredible Post-Rock band from Chicago. Post-rock is a really interesting genre, there are usually no vocals and the vibe given off from each song, usually, changes dramatically throughout the song. Russian Circles are definitely masters at this. They go from relaxing to an intensity in their music without it being overbearing. This album blows me away from the first to last song. There was no flaw with this album, which goes for most of their albums anyway. They usually have rather long songs which I enjoy, but you need a little extra time to listen to the whole thing. Great guitars and incredible drums to add to it. This album is definitely worth checking out.

Legs Like Tree Trunks

Legs Like Tree Trunks is an awesome band that a found a few months ago. They have this Indie/Math rock vibe that is fantastic! They're a very relaxing band that is very enjoyable to listen to. Beautiful instrumentals and very soft vocals that I can't really fully describe. The song that I first heard that got me hooked was Park Cars. Its now a song that I listen to when I need to relax. I highly recommend this band to everyone. Please check them out and get them out there!

Bag of Bones - Deep Thought - 8/10

Bag of Bones is an Emo band from New York that I recently found. This album is just beautiful, really heavy lyrically, soft instrumentals, and a really great vocalist. This is a band worth checking out, especially if you're into emo (not like Hawthorne Heights and Senses Fail.) There's a little bit of spoken word in here which is a little like Old Gray, I really liked that. This is an album worth checking out if you're into this kind of stuff.

Coldplay - Viva La Vida 6/10

This album is better than the first Coldplay album I listened to but not by much. I'm very disappointed so far by this band, I was expecting much more. This album was much catchier instrumentally than X & Y, but I still found it to be a bit dull. I'm not sure if I like the vocalists voice or not... it's odd. I'm stuck between being relaxed by his voice and being annoyed by his voice. I'm not so sure what that's about. But overall this album was again a disappointment due to the hype this band has.

Daitro - Y - 8/10

Daitro is an incredible screamo band if you've never heard of them. They have been one of my favorite bands pretty much since I started to listen to them. They have so much passion in their music. You can hear it from every part of their songs, from the vocals to the instrumentals. I am a little biased though because I have a soft spot of Screamo and Emo (not the mallcore stuff like Alesana and Bring Me The Horizon.) This album starts off fantastic from the very first song and constantly gets better. If you're into screamo or if you're curious about the genre I definitely suggest checking these guys out i you haven't already.

Coldplay - X & Y - 6/10

Of course everyone knows about Coldplay at this point. They're one of the biggest Pop bands of this generation. But even though they are Coldplay I have never personally been into them. They've made a few goods songs here and there but I never found them consistent. This album to me was okay, not great. Of course Speed of Sound is incredible and Square One was really good too, but besides those, there were not really any other songs that stuck out to me personally. I really don't see them mixing up their sound and that really turned me off. Maybe their other albums will impress me more. Still looking forward to checking out their other albums since it's still Coldplay. But honestly, this album wasn't all that great..

Minor Threat - Discography

If you don't know Minor Threat, they're a Post-Hardcore Punk band in the 80's. They made a very big impact on this scene, even though they were only around for three years, (Other bands being: Fugazi, Mouth Breather, La Dispute, Glassjaw, and early Thursday.) Their music is very in your face and fast paced. Their songs are short and to the point which fits the attitude of their music. If you have not listened to this genre and would like to check it out, I would definitely recommend you starting out with Minor Threat. They are iconic in their field and deserve all they credit they have been given and more.

Dead Can Dance - Anastasis

Okay, this was the very first album I listened to in 2013 and it absolutely blew my away. It is one of the most beautiful albums I've ever heard. I have no idea what genre to put them in since they have so many different sounds. This album is very relaxing while being very eerie. There isn't a track that sticks out because there is no weak song on this album. They are all absolutely brilliant. This is a must for any music lover. Definitely a 10/10.

Anberlin

Anberlin: Overall - 10/10 Anberlin has been my favorite band for five years now. First time I heard them was when I was playing Runescape and watching videos of it on youtube. First song I ever heard was Ready Fuel off their Album: Blueprints for the Black Market and that was all I needed to get hooked. They made an album recently, Vital. It's one of the best albums I've ever heard. They have grown immensely since their first album (Blueprints). They started out with more of a man vs the world vibe and from there went to man vs man. They are currently focused on man vs himself. There is a lot that I can relate to in these albums since there is a lot of song about self-struggle. I highly suggest anybody who is into Pop Rock/Alternative Rock to check them out.

Discography
Blueprints for the Black Market 7/10
 Never Take Friendship Personal 8/10
 Cities 9/10
 New Surrender 8/10
Dark is the Way Light is a Place 7/10
 Vital 10/10

Yes, I'm yet another music critic

I know, I know there's thousands of music critics with blogs but I'm deciding to make one too. Hopefully you guys can put up with it. Anyways, I listen to just about every genre and I love finding new music. I will be posting albums and discographies that I really enjoyed. No download links though... Still new to this blogging thing... My favorite genres are Emo and Screamo... not the scene stuff... the skramz. I hope you enjoy this blog and hopefully you can find new music. And please, if you have any suggestions on how to run the blog or bands that I havn't posted yet... please let me know. I'd love to better myself with this.
